PALEOKASTRITSA

Paleokastritsa, a renowned Greek beauty spot, is located on the northwest coast of Corfu, 25 kilometers from the I. Kapodistrias airport and Corfu town. It has long been considered one of the most beautiful villages in Corfu. It has a land area of 48.379 km² and a population of about 4,500.

There is all kind of services: restaurants, supermarkets, cafes, shops, small bars, covering all the needs of the visitors. The resort also offers a lot of accommodation options in a wide range of prices. There are apartments categorized in three classes by the Hellenic Tourism Organization, according to the view they offer from the sea, beach front, mountain or the combination of them.

In the northern Agios Spiridon promontory, lies the 12th. Century monastery of Theotokos which stands on a hillside full of wild trees and olive trees facing the deep blue sea. Magnificent views are seen from there, specially from the village of Lakones, which is worth visiting to enjoy good meals and watch the Paleokastritsa bays. Most of the beaches have taxi boats, sun beds, umbrellas, motor boats and canoes for rent, and the crystal waters are ideal for swimming and water sports. You can take one of the small boats for a trip around the sea cliffs and caves to experience the coast from a different point of view. You can rent a paddle boat or a canoe for a slow sail around. For thos who seek more than a lounge chair in the sun, there are plenty to explore and discover.

The ruins of the Angelocastro Byzantine castle stand on a 300 sharp hill near Krini village and offers panoramic views of the entire area. Paleokastritsa is also one of the best spots in Corfu, and one of the best in Greece. Many beaches are reached only by boat and it´s worth visiting the Paleokastritsa caves. Corfu has around 3.000.000 olive trees, which make it the greenest of the Greek islands. It has been suggested to be the mythical island of the Phaeacians, and the bay of Palaiokastritsa to be the place where Odysseus disembarked and met Nausicaa for the first time.
