MORAITIKA

Moraitika village is a modern tourist resort surrounded by hills and olive groves that lies around a natural bay. It is a well planned and ideal place for residing with just six hundred residents. Most of the local residents of Moraitika are engaged in tourism, therefore it is quite easy to find a room or an apartment. Moraitika village is one of the liveliest  tourist resorts of  Corfu  island  and is located in front of a perfect beach. The village is within close proximity to the town of Corfu , just 20 km away from its capital Kerkyra, and a distance of 12 miles away from the airport,  located in Kanoni village.

The main street of Moraitika is a strip of bars, restaurants and shops that straggles for over a kilometre to the junction where the main road veers inland and the Messonghi River forms the official boundary with Messonghi. The older village on the hill,  known as Ano Moraitika, is virtually unspoilt.  Going up the hill you can pass the attractive Church of Theotokou Kimiseos with a quaint belfry on the right. There is a great view of the coast from this area. The scenic beach which is ideal for swimming. provides an exclusive Diving Center that imparts both preliminary as well as advanced courses on the art of diving.

A visit to the neighborhood beach of Aghios Ioannis is highly recommended for short excursions. There are plenty of lively clubs and discos open until late for those wanting plenty of lively night entertainment. Moraitika appeals to a cosmopolitan mix of families, younger couples and  young people and provides plentiful budget to mid-range accommodation for them.  The resort has grown tremendously over recent years, and now merges with the nearby resort of Messonghi.

Moraitika beach is a popular long mixture of sand and shingle with warm, shallow water for safe bathing and swimming for children.  You can also enjoy  boat trips and go-karting or find small secluded bays to a long beautiful sandy beach. There are at least a dozen fast food outlets, as well as plenty of restaurants, on the main road which tend to supply solid rather than exceptional food.

There are also beachside restaurants, with shady seating, that specializes in fresh seafood delicacies and fish at reasonable prices. Where the blue of the Ionian Sea meets the green of the Mediterranean, holidays become a Dream.
