Kerasia or Kerasea is a quiet cove situated between Kouloura and Agios Stephanos. It is one of the most picturesque and beautiful beaches of Corfu located 37 km away from the main town. It is mainly just one long sweeping beach and is quite stunning, perfect for young families and couples who want peace and quite or a place to read.
Despite its close proximity to the cosmopolitan settlement of Kassiopi, the beach keeps a rather low profile. It combines the crystal clear waters, the idyllic lush green landscape and the stunning coves that make an ideal destination for the summer holidays. The flora is rich and consists mainly of olive trees, cypresses, fruit trees and several kinds of bushes.
The fauna consists only of domestic animals. There is just one Taverna situated right on the beach front serving traditional Greek cuisine and fish. During lunchtime, the occasional day trip boat may arrive, but they soon depart. Some celebrities are regular like Prince Charles and Lord Sainsbury and the Rothschild’s have a holiday home on the headland. There are numerous coastal walks in the area for those with the energy but you will probably need a car to visit other areas. Kerasia may be too quiet for teenagers although nearby Saint Stephanos may interest them.
There are board walks on this sandy and shingled beach and also several facilities such as sunbeds and umbrellas, showers, toilets and changing areas. Kerasia is a flat, child friendly beach and its water is quite shallow for a little way out, it then deepens quickly.
Pedlos and canoes are available to hire on the beach, and the nearest waterski centre is at Kalami. It is possible to arrange boat rental in Agios Stefanos. Kerasia´s resort is flat and there is plenty of parking right on the beach. Kerasia is a Blue Flag beach, which means that has the EEC award for recommended beaches. It is extremely clean and there are no sea urchins. It has a small tourist shop on the beach which also sells some pharmacy/first aid products. There is no supermarket in Kerasia. The nearest one is in Agios Stefanos.
There is no exchange either. The nearest place to exchange money or travellers checks is also in Stefanos. Kerasia is ideal for the nature lovers and those who want to spend some relaxing moments away from the noisy crowds.
